  • "'I have been unable to install client Snow Leopard on host Lion on my Macbook using VirtualBox 4.1.14. VB won't even boot the DVD installer for Snow Leopard. What obvious thing am I missing? It sure doesn't feel trivial...' I made a Snow Leopard VM with VirtualBox when Lion first came out: I think maybe VB 4.1.10 or thereabouts. I remember that I couldn't boot the installer directly but had to format the VM disk as HFS+ first, as a separate act, then boot the installer and install the OS. I don't remember the specifics of how I did it, though. The [VirtualBox] docs made no distinction between SL and SL Server at that point, but I did notice that the 4.1.14 docs now do. My VM still works with 4.1.14, but they may have modified it not to allow building a new one. If you can get the disk formatted and still can't boot the installer you may have to look for an older version of VB." MacInTouch 4:08 PM
