Apple has signed a deal with Indian online retailer Flipkart to sell its latest iPhone 7 handset, Indian news site BGR.IN has reported.

Unlike previous iPhone releases, when it used third-party sellers, Flipkart will source the latest versions of the smartphone directly from Apple.

Apple will launch the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in India on October 7. Prices for the iPhone 7 will come in at 60,000 rupees ($900) for the 32GB model with the iPhone 7 Plus, on the other hand, starting at 72,000 for the 32GB handset, BGR.IN reports.

The online retail space in India is a crowded one. Flipkart has a 45 percent market share in terms of gross merchandise value (GMV) – a key metric for online retailers – while rivals Snapdeal comes in with 26 percent and Amazon with 12 percent, according to research by Morgan Stanley.
