The social media company Twitter now has a market value of around $16 billion.

The sale of Twitter has become the subject of on-again, of-again rumours for many months. The company has reportedly initiated talks with several technology companies to explore selling itself; however, Microsoft seems to be out of the run for Twitter.

According to media reports, Twitter is in talks with companies like Google, Verizon, and Microsoft, and may receive a formal bid soon. However, Microsoft may withdraw its name from the long run, as the company has recently purchased LinkedIn worth $26.6 billion.

On September 23, Twitter share jumped more than 19 per cent to $22.22 per share, as a result the company now said to be valued around $16 billion. After making such a large acquisition, Microsoft is speculated not to purchase Twitter anytime soon, and deal may stuck by a possible suitor.
