We’re quite fond of the Spigen Hybrid Armor. Or the version of the Hybrid Armor that we received from Spigen.  At the times of this review, it is #5 in our Top 10 Cases for the iPhone 7 but all intents and purposes; the Spigen Slim Armor would be #5 as well as the two cases are quite similar.

The Hybrid and Slim Armors are thinner than the Spigen Tough Armor (#2 at the time of writing). The general design of both cases is not as sharp as the Tough Armor as the edges of the case are rounded whereas the Tough Armor has sharp angles on the sides.

The cases fit well together and if you get the right version (the soft rubber-coated version), will keep your iPhone from sliding around on a flat surface. If you don’t, there is a higher chance that the case will slide around.

We’ve seen several different variations of the case and have been impressed by the handling of the transparent TPU versions, but those clear versions didn’t come with soft rubber-coated shells and were missing the added speaker grill protection found on the black TPU sleeves.

The only case that came with the transparent TPU and soft rubber-coated back was the Hybrid Armor which was why it was our favourite.

For protection, both versions of the case are drop-rated to Mil-STD 810G, but Spigen doesn’t state the actual drop height. From our experience, these cases will protect your iPhone from a 4ft drop at a minimum. The Tough Armor suffered through a six ft face first drop, and the iPhone wasn’t damaged.

Getting to the iPhone is a breeze in these cases with the only complaint being the black TPU versions where the buttons sit quite flush against the polycarbonate shell which forces you to search for the buttons. It’s a minor complaint, but it is still something we wanted to point out.

So to sum it all up, the Spigen Hybrid and Slim Armors are above average cases at a decent price point. They will protect your iPhone from any daily usage and if you get the right version, improve the handling of your iPhone!

Great review, thank you. Do you know if the jet black plastic is slick or soft touch ? I’m guessing since it’s not matte it’s probably slick but wanted to know for sure before ordering.

The only black case I have from them is a Slim Armor CS and that isn’t soft-rubber coated.

Just want to make clear, which one again had the covered apple logo?

The Slim Armor covers the Apple Logo. Hybrid Armor has it exposed.

Hi, can you please share the model number or a link for the Soft Rubber Coated Slim Armor for iPhone 7 Plus? It’s hard to discern in photos.

    Thanks so much!

Hi Aaron, please can you share the model number of the iPhone 7 plus Slim Armor case which has a soft rubberised back plate?
It’s not clear from the photos on the site.

I think the black or grey cases will have the rubberized back. The Gold, white and pink cases won’t. Double check with Spigen CS’s to be sure.
