The Microsoft Surface Studio and Surface Pro 4 gadgets will be getting a new firmware update. The updates are expected to improve the stability and performance of the devices.

Surface Pro 4 and Surface Studio. Microsoft first revealed its Surface Pro 4 in Oct. 2015. The Redmond-based tech giant touted it as its more powerful hybrid device yet. It is able to operate both as a touchscreen tablet and as a laptop thanks to its fold-out keyboard.

The Surface Pro 4 has Windows 10 and an Intel Core i5 processor. It also has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Its battery life lasts around 9 hours.

The Surface Studio was also revealed in October. The Redmond tech giant looks to target creative industries such as design, production, and animation professionals. It has a 28-inch touchscreen that is the thinnest display Microsoft has ever produced. It can fold down to a 20-degree viewing angle, ideal for a slanted work desk.

Firmware Update. The January firmware update for the Microsoft Surface devices are slowly rolling out and they bring a new range of enhancements. The update enables the Surface Studio to wake up from sleep mode more quickly. In addition, the video calling and Ethernet facilities are greatly improved.

The Surface Pro 4 tablet also receives significant updates. It gets improved battery life, keyboard stability, and storage performance for the device. The tablet will also feature Intel Precise Touch and a new Surface UEFI version after the update.

The speech recognition software is also enhanced. Skype and similar video calling facilities now have improved reliability.

The Redmond-based tech giant is slowly becoming more popular as a 2-in-1 device. With the upcoming release of the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Phone, this will definitely cement Microsoft as the leader in the 2-in-1 device game.

The Microsoft Surface Studio and Surface Pro 4 devices have both gotten really great upgrades for this update. Hopefully, they will prove to be bug-free. For more details, on the update, see Microsoft's official blog post here.
