New Reports Claim No 6-Core AMD Ryzen CPU Coming Out

New reports claim that despite previous rumors there will be no 6-core AMD Ryzen CPU coming out. Here is what we know now about AMD Ryzen.

New reports claim that despite previous rumors there will be no 6-core AMD Ryzen CPU coming out. This leaves us with 4-core and 8-core CPUs. We know that there will be three variants of the processor coming out, SR3, SR5 and SR7 and we thought there would be a 6-core variant among these three but new reports claim that it is possible there might not be.

The SR3 will feature 4-cores and 8 threads, SR5 will feature 8-cores and 8 threads without SMT, SR7 will feature 8-cores, 16 threads with SMT.

That is the new information that we have as of right now. This is still a rumor and unless there is official word from AMD I advise you to take this information with a grain of salt.

There is a lot of hype surrounding AMD Ryzen and people are interested to see what kind of performance it can bring in order to rival Intel and at what price point. Surely this is what we are interested in as well.

As competition is great for consumers we might get something out of this competition. We have already seen that there is an unlocked version of the i3 processor in the new Kaby Lake series and the new Pentium series also comes with hyperthreading now.

AMD Ryzen

While we do not know for sure that these moves have been made by Intel to counter AMD Ryzen, we do know that this has not been done before, at least for not as long as I can remember. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact AMD Ryzen has on the market. And how Intel is going to counter this upcoming threat.

Intel previously said that AMD Zen was not going to pose a threat but now it seems that Intel underestimated AMD. What do you think?
