Microsoft is now working on giving the final touches to Windows 10 Creators Update, as the update is feature-locked and the full focus is on bug fixing and performance improvements, with the launch expected to take place as soon as April for retail users.

The Creators Update is bringing important updates to both PCs and smartphones, and although Microsoft has been trying to keep its devices in sync, it appears that the release won’t take place on all devices at the same time.

Since the release of the Creators Update is just around the corner, we’ve asked Microsoft whether it plans to update all devices at the same time or prioritize the launch on a specific platform. And it appears that between the two, PCs are Microsoft’s priority with the Creators Update, so they’ll be the first getting the new OS version, while Windows 10 Mobile devices will receive it at a later time. Here’s Microsoft’s very short statement on this:

“The initial update will be for desktop, but other versions will be available thereafter,” a company spokesperson told us.

No target date for phones, but it’s probably “soon”

As far as Windows 10 Mobile is concerned, it’s not clear when exactly the firm wants to release the Creators Update, but it’s once again the “soon” trademark that’s already causing so much frustration in the phone community.

Work on Windows 10 Creators Update is expected to be finalized as soon as this month, with insiders obviously set to be the first getting the RTM build. Rumor has it that Creators Update could land as version 1703, which is a direct hint at its compiling date, while retail users should get it in April.

Microsoft is yet to announce the launch date of the Windows 10 Creators Update, but there’s no doubt that holding back the release for phones a little bit longer after the PC isn’t exactly what users sticking with Windows 10 Mobile hoped to hear. We’ll find out more about Microsoft’s plans for Windows 10 Mobile when the company officially announces the release date of the Creators Update.
