Microsoft partners with Steelcase to build 'Creative Spaces' and change our workplaces

Microsoft is partnering with interior design and work environment specialists, Steelcase, to promote a holistic approach to a company’s digital transformation. The partnership between the two companies envisions the workplaces of the future, where technology is seamlessly integrated and the spaces around us are designed to enhance our collaboration and productivity.

In basic terms, Steelcase will be showcasing and using Microsoft's Surface line of products as part of their designs and integrating these devices into modern workplaces. However, Microsoft is quick to point out that this isn’t “simply about creating new desks, chairs or conference rooms”, but rather a whole new vision of the workplace that’s designed around the worker’s needs at certain times.

For example, there are special designs aimed at moments when a person needs to be isolated and focused on a single task. Other designs, look to provide open spaces and large Surface screens to bring a group together and promote creativity.

As part of the collaboration Steelcase will be using Surface devices in its expositions around the world, while also becoming a reseller for the Surface Hub in the UK and Germany this summer. Other markets are expected to join the list in the second half of the year.
