One of the great things about owning a Mac is how easily you can run Windows. But while there’s no need to hack anything together, that doesn’t mean running Windows on a Mac isn’t tricky.

Getting it up and running usually involves the creation of a special partition through Boot Camp. And unfortunately, running Windows on Mac is just as susceptible to crashes and other hangups as any other operating system. When the time comes that you need to restore your Windows Boot Camp partition, you’re going to want some backup.

The easy way to back up your Windows Boot Camp partition

Winclone is probably the simplest and most reliable way to create a backup for your Windows Boot Camp partition. Just clone the partition — complete with all its settings and content — and you’ll have an image of the partition right on your desktop or anywhere else you want to keep it.

These files can be used to recover Windows if there’s ever a snag, or if you want to give your Windows install a fresh start without losing all your preference settings.

With a couple of clicks, you can also create clones of your Windows partition to be opened as packages to other machines. Boot Camp will install the package straight to the targeted partition, whether they have the same software or not.

Winclone will also remind you of the necessary disk scans you’ll need to perform in order to make sure everything goes smoothly in the imaging of a disk partition.

The sixth and latest version of Winclone has been updated to support cloning and restoring with Boot Camp on the new USB-C MacBook models. You can mount readable/writable NTFS volumes, or mount Boot Camp or other NTFS drives in read/write mode whenever you need to copy data between Mac and Windows volumes.

That makes Winclone a handy hub for backing up and distributing Windows partitions from essentially any drive.

Act now to get Winclone 6 for half off

The new version of Winclone also sports an updated interface, helpful tutorial videos, in-app support tickets and other goodies. For the release of Winclone 6, Twocanoes Software is offering half off if you use the coupon code WCCULTMAC17 at checkout before March 22.

If you’re running Windows on your Mac and want to make sure you have a backup plan, or if you’re looking to run Windows on multiple machines, this is a deal well worth checking out.
