Microsoft Surface Book 2 Latest News & Update: Simpler, Cheaper Transformable Laptop Nearing Release

Mar 23, 2017 06:25 AM EDT

The thing about the Microsoft Surface solutions is that they come at a steep price. Latest reports claim that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will change all that as it will be made cheaper and simpler once it is ready for deployment. If everything goes according to schedule, that could happen by the end March or early April.

Cheaper Microsoft Surface Book 2 coming soon

Price is singled out as one of the things that have kept consumers from buying the Microsoft Surface Book 2. Looking at its predecessor, the suggested retail price is somehow justified. Aside from being a portable solution, its flexibility has been a selling point. The Microsoft Surface Book can transform from a laptop to a tablet and vice versa.

There are now reports that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will undergo changes. Rather than 2-in-1 hybrid design, it will sport a clamshell design instead, Digitimes Reported. The device will inadvertently end up simpler and cheaper. With the iterations, the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 will reportedly be offered at an introductory price of $1,000.

What is on the inside?

With the external features of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 out, the next thing a potential buyer will want to know is the power from within. Among the other specs of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 include a 13.5-inch 4K display (3,840x2,160 resolution) and run on an Intel Kaby Lake chipset, Tech Radar reported. Aside from that, an improved Surface Pen and battery are expected for the portable device.

The $1,000 intro price for the Microsoft Surface Book 2 seems more than reasonable with Apple likely keeping track. The Cupertino has been getting criticized for its underpowered MacBook with most considering a shift to Windows 10. Microsoft quietly upped the stakes as well with the Mac to Surface Assistant migration tool which was covered previously here on Droid Report.
