Microsoft is facing pressure on the release date of the Surface 5. Moreso, when Apple would be the first to release its iPad Pro 2, Microsoft would be certainly left in vain and would drop more amount of sales.

CNBC reported that Microsoft sales on Surface products were down since last quarter and the company blames it on the lower Microsoft Surface Pro sales. Because of this, pundits believe that it is now time to introduce the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.

On its sales report for the last quarter of March, Microsoft revealed that they had a 26 percent drop from the revenues of Microsoft Surface products. The reasons behind the sales drop are mostly seen on the delay of Microsoft Surface Pro 5 after its predecessor was released two years ago.

According to TechRadar, the 26 percent sales drop of Microsoft is a huge affecting factor compared to what the company boasted as the company's 'best sales to consumers ever" at the end of last year. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said, "This quarter our Surface results fell short of expectations, impacted by end of product lifecycle and had increased price competition."

Another factor which is perceived to have affected the sales of Microsoft aside from the delay of the Surface Pro 5 is that the release of the new Surface Book in too much expensive price. Although the Surface Book is really meant for professionals because of its Performance Base and Surface Studio features, there are only few who are willing to spend lots of money for a device especially when it's not for their daily use.

Microsoft should be alarmed on the drop down of its quarter sales. Thus, the company must update their Surface Pro devices and release the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 as much as possible. If not, the company's sales will be likely turning lower especially when Apple would release its iPad Pro 2 in the next months.

On May, Microsoft will be hosting an event to unveil new hardware and software from the company. However, there are no hints yet whether the company would include the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 at its annual event.
