HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Intel Corporation introduced its latest Atom™ Z3000 Series of low-power systems-on-a-chip (SoC) on December 3 in HCM City.

Codenamed Bay Trail, the chip is the company's first multi-core SoC and is designed to support Windows 8 and Android operating systems on mobile devices, including tablets.

It is also included McAfee DeepSafe, a jointly developed technology from McAfee and Intel to protect users from attacks and safely store data.

At the moment, only the Transformerbook T100 from Asus, a convertible notebook tablet using the Bay Trail chip, is available in Viet Nam.

Intel said that Bay Trail chips will be manufactured at the hi-tech zone in District 9 in HCM City beginning in December, and its 64-bit chip will be sold in early 2014. — VNS
