A 10.5-inch iPad Pro and updated 12.9-inch Pro could be announced along with new MacBooks, IHS Markit said on Wednesday, revising an earlier projection.

The redesigned 10.5-inch iPad Pro and an updated 12.9-inch iPad Pro may be announced along with new MacBooks, IHS Markit's Rhoda Alexander said on Wednesday, via email, revising an earlier projection.  Updated MacBook Pros and an updated 12-inch MacBook and are expected to be announced at Apple's developers conference which starts on June 5.

The 10.5 inch iPad “is in production now" and a new 12.9 inch model is coming too, Alexander said, revising a statement earlier in the week when she said IHS Markit expected the iPads later this year. "They both are likely to be part of the launch with the MacBooks," she said after getting updated data from other IHS analysts. The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro is expected to get a faster A10 processor, she said.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said earlier this month that there is a "greater than 70 percent chance" that the new iPad Pro will debut at the June event.

The new 10.5-inch iPad Pro will have a similar design or "form factor" to the 9.7-inch model but accommodate the larger 10.5-inch display by shrinking the bezels -- or borders -- around the display.

"You end up with a unit that’s the same physical size as the 9.7-inch," Alexander told me earlier this year. That means accessories like the Smart Keyboard can be used with the 10.5-inch iPad Pro.
