Microsoft today released a major update to its OneNote app for Windows 10 in the Fast ring, bringing the version number to 17.8269.5756. Most notably, you'll see a new design, which is meant to be more uniform with the app's counterparts on other platforms.
You'll also find that it's "easier to find and resolve" page conflicts, which can tend to occur in shared notebooks. These will show a triangle 'warning' icon, and you'll see a Page Conflicts pane that allows you to choose between the different versions.
Page previews is a feature that's already available in the desktop app, and it shows the first few words of a page to help you get an idea of what you're clicking on. You'll have to turn it on under View -> Navigation panes.
You'll also be able to hide subpages, which should help users to better organize their page lists. To do this, click on the chevron to the left of the page list.
As you can also see from the image to the left, you can now see when someone has changed something in your notes, as the item will be displayed in bold.
Other features have been added that exist in OneNote 2016, such as the ability to use Ctrl+F to find something on a page. Tell Me has been added as well; to use it, click on the lightbulb in the upper-right corner and type what you want to do.
Finally, there are some more customization options for notebooks, such as the ability to add a nickname, or change the color.
Right now, today's update is only available to Fast ring Windows Insiders, but other users should see it soon enough.
