Since the advent of Windows 10 and Windows as a Service, Microsoft has found ever more innovative ways to push their services onto users, from adverts in the Start menu, File Explorer to even the Share dialogue box, but the latest one may take the cake, for now at least.

WindowsArea.de reports that Microsoft will now advertise the Outlook for Android app to Android users after they entered all their Outlook.com account details into the default email app on Android to sync their Outlook.com emails.

When they open their email inbox they are met by the single email above, advising them that it is much better to use Outlook for Android than the Gmail app, with Microsoft touting such features as the Focussed Inbox, Calendar and Dropbox integration, and good support for corporate and education networks.  Users are then offered a prominent link to download the Outlook for Android app from the Google Play store, or a much less prominent link to authorise the synching

WindowsArea notes that this would not be such an issue of the Outlook for Android app worked well, but with numerous 408 (request timeout) errors, they find it somewhat insulting.
