Apple Car Plans Might Upset Fans, But 'Right Strategy': Analyst

X Apple (AAPL) just confirmed its self-driving car plans, but don't expect to see Apple logos on the road next to Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) cars, says one analyst.

"What it sounds like is, you know, they're going to focus primarily on the technology behind the car vs. actually building an Apple Car — which might disappoint some Apple fans that there won't be a car running around with an Apple logo on it, but I think that's probably the right strategy for them," Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson told Investor's Business Daily at E3 2017.

Olson said his firm has spoken with many investors about Apple getting into the car business, and the feeling is that this is a good "happy medium" for Apple to get in on the software side of things.
