AMD Vega is the high-end GPU architecture that we are all waiting for. AMD CEO Lisa Su confirmed that the Vega GPUs will be revealed at SIGGRAPH and seeing how that is in July rumors claim that Vega GPUs will be available for the masses by the end of July or early August. This is a rumor so take this with a grain of salt.

There are other sources that are reporting that Vega will not be available until later this year and hence there is a lot of confusion regarding AMD Vega release window. AMD has been able to disrupt the CPU market with the Ryzen CPUs and the same is the case with the upcoming Threadripper series that has forced Intel to speed up their product release cycle.

We are expected the same to be the case in the GPU market when it comes to AMD Vega GPUs. There have been a couple of leaks regarding Vega GPUs and while nothing is confirmed one thing seems to be trending is that the AMD GPUs will be cheaper than what Nvidia has to offer. If that is the case AMD does not need to be on par with Nvidia GPUs.

Globalfoundries has started working on the 7nm process and that is interesting because AMD Navi, the next generation GPU architecture from AMD is based on the 7nm process and word has it that the new smaller node will enable the next generation architecture to deliver 40% better performance as compared to AMD Vega.

As of right now, we do not know what AMD Vega has to offer so we do not know how well Navi will be. Come SIGGRAPH we will know the performance of the AMD Vega GPUs and how much 40% increase in performance translates to.

Let us know what you think about the AMD Vega release window and when you think the GPUs should be released.
