Sega Genesis Flashback: can it pull off my 16-bit childhood in HD?

My entire childhood was spent in front of Sega systems. If you were like me, the Sega Genesis Flashback really is a trip to the past. For $80, it's a mini Sega Genesis, with two wireless controllers, an HDMI cord for 720p playback, dozens of built in Genesis games, and it can play old Genesis cartridges to, and it uses your old controller. But how good is it? I sat down with Sega super fan Bridget [UNKNOWN] and we played all the games that we could. So there are so many Sonic games here. Sonic 3D Blast, which is not a great one. Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic & Knuckles. Sonic Spinball was hard, but I enjoyed it. Let's do Sonic & Knuckles, though. Yeah that one's not on a lot of collections but where's Sonic 3? This is really choppy. Wait this was never that choppy on Genesis. No. Watch what happens when you hit rewind. It goes back and. It does this weird countdown. Look can I interrupt myself? If I die, let's say I fall off something. Yeah go jump in the lake. [NOISE] I rewound. And I can control it again. Yeah. Cheating. Total cheating. This is game cheating. Cheating! The music sounds kind of choppy. Okay. This did not interest us for very long. No. Woo! Here we go, woo. Aw. Hey, get off it. Whee, whee, whee. Okay, you swing away. Wait. No, get off. I still feel like the controls are Like not accurate. There's a bunch of weird. Why would there be not sega games on here. Because they filled it with lots of crapware. Okay. I don't know what's going on here. This is okay. You'll find random games like this on your Sega Console. It really, I could just. Dust off my old Genesis. Blow on a cartridges a little bit. Speaking of which, this works with old Genesis cartridges. Yeah? Okay. Pretty awesome here. Let's do that. Let's see how it performs the old stuff. We have Toejam and Earl. Shut up. This was my Favorite. This is your- Game, absolute favorite. What is this? Can you enter it in? Did you enter this game [UNKNOWN]? No, this was like this before. I think it's just like a broken ROM reading, I don't know. It looks pretty good. Wow, this looks really good! But this game has always kinda looked like this. This makes me Okay. It feels the same. For $80, it offers some thrills. You caused tomato rain! No! You are not a good present opener. But this one isn't as well made as the NES Classic. Thank you for the trip down memory lane, even though it was a little strange, and not everything I remember. [MUSIC]
