Shipping times for AirPods have finally fallen below one month. In most countries, the wait has been reduced to just two to three weeks when ordering from the Apple online store, which is the lowest it has been since the earphones made their debut last December.
Despite their steep price tag, AirPods have been incredibly popular among Apple fans. Soon after they first went on sale late last year, shipping times slipped to six weeks as Apple struggled to keep up with strong demand.
That didn’t change until early August, when the wait was reduced to four weeks for most territories. Weeks later, it has fallen again to two to three weeks, which suggests Apple and its suppliers are closer than ever to catching up with AirPods demand.
At the beginning of this month, during Apple’s third quarter earnings call, CEO Tim Cook confirmed the company was working to deliver AirPods faster.
“We have increased production capacity for AirPods and are working very hard to get them to customers as quickly as we can,” he said, “but we are still not able to meet the strong level of demand.”
The new shipping estimate applies to most countries worldwide when ordering from Apple.com. Those who still see the four-week estimate will likely see it reduced in the coming days. Bear in mind, however, that you may get them quicker from an Apple store or a third-party retailer.
AirPods were Apple’s first earphones to ship with the W1 wireless chip, which improves connection stability, efficiency, and speed. It’s what makes AirPods some of the best wireless headphones to use with an iOS device.
