Firm announced public testing program for Edge on iOS

Hell froze over earlier this week when Microsoft announced that it’s bringing Edge to Android and iOS, but while there were only limited seats available at first to try out the browser, everyone with an iPhone can now test the application.

The software giant announced that it’s opening the public beta for Edge on iOS, which means that all users, be they insiders or not, can register for the program and try out the browser.

Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore made the announcement on Twitter, where it also responded to users who aren’t necessarily pleased with the company’s focus on rival mobile platforms or with the firm investing in projects whose chances to succeed aren’t exactly huge.

“We're delivering Edge on phones so hundreds of millions of Edge PC users can roam their experience smoothly back and forth. Huge request!” Belfiore explained.

How to try out Microsoft Edge on an iPhone

Getting access to the public beta program and trying out Microsoft Edge on your iPhone isn’t hard, and all you have to do is go to this page and register for the preview. Make sure you select iOS and provide your first and last names, as well as your Apple account. You will be emailed a link and further instructions, letting you quickly open the download page on your iPhone to start the install.

The Android version isn’t yet available, but judging from how fast Microsoft is moving with the testing program, there’s a good chance this lands soon.

Keep in mind that for the time being, Microsoft Edge on iOS is still in its early days, so the browser might not work exactly as expected. And yet, it’s a neat way to try out Continue on PC, a feature that lets you continue browsing on a Windows 10 PC with Edge from where you left off on your iPhone.

This feature only works with a preview build of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update though, but with the release of the new OS version planned for October 17, most beta testers should already be running it.
