AMD Athlon 200GE Listing Popped Up In SiSoft Database

With the launch of AMD Ryzen, AMD's other processor series like FX and Athlon series have been left behind and forgotten despite AMD Athlon processors.

With the launch of AMD Ryzen, AMD’s other processor series like FX and Athlon series have been left behind and forgotten despite AMD Athlon processors still being in the market and AMD Athlon 200GE has appeared in the SiSoft database.

According to the listing, AMD Athlon 200GE will come with an integrated Radeon Vega Graphics making it an APU. Furthermore, the specs for AMD Athlon 200GE reveal that it will be a DUal-Core with four threads L2 2x512KB, L3 4MB Cache, with a base frequency of 3.2GHz. According to the listing, AMD Athlon 200GE will be used for Lenovo 234.

It seems that AMD might be looking to stop Intel from grabbing the whole low-end market for itself and will be offering Athlon as a cheaper alternative to the AMD Raven Ridge, whose cheapest APU Ryzen 3 2200G will be available for $99, which is also evident in the Vega CU count which are very low in AMD Athlon 200GE compared to Ryzen 3.

However, what is more confusing is that there is no meaning to “GE” in AMD’s naming system as “G” stands for the CPU with an integrated graphics chip while there is no mention of “E” in AMD’s naming system for its Processors and APUs.

We speculate that since it is a low-end CPU, it will be available for around $80 and Athlon X4 950 could be discontinued all-together in favor AMD Athlon 200GE with Radeon Vega Graphics.

Speaking on Raven Ridge, MSI and Gigabyte have rolled out BIOS updates for AM 4 Socket Motherboards to support the upcoming AMD Raven Ridge APUs. If you plan to upgrade the processor to the upcoming AMD Raven Ridge APU then you definitely need to update your BIOS as without it you won’t be able to use the upcoming Raven Rodge APU.

Do you think AMD plans to roll out a new low-end Athlon processor to grab a share of low-end CPU market? Let us know in the comments.
