AMD Ryzen 2000 series will be coming out next month according to the roadmap that we have included below. The upcoming chips will feature the same number of cores and threads but will feature a higher clock speed thanks to the 12nm process. The upcoming CPUs will also come with features such as XFR2 that will allow users to overclock their chips depending on the cooling solution that they are using.
AMD Ryzen 2000 Series And Second Gen Threadripper
2017 has been a very interesting year for the CPU market and we have seen AMD make a comeback by offering an increased number of cores and threads at competitive prices if that continues to be the case then it will be a very interesting year indeed. You can check out the roadmap below:
AMD is gaining a lot of market share and it seems that the company is on track to get where it was back in the Athlon64 glory days. Upcoming AMD CPUs have been leaked and you can check out more information regarding the top of the line AMD Ryzen 2 2700X here.
We have also been getting word regarding how the upcoming CPUs will be improved and Global Foundry expects that the upcoming chips will be able to reach 5 GHz. While this is not something that we have not heard of before. Intel chips can overclock to such high frequencies but imagine a CPU running at 5 GHz out of the box. I am pretty sure that AMD can get to that point by 2019-2020.
The roadmap also shows that the 2nd generation AMD Threadripper CPUs will be coming out in the second half of 2018 and those will be interesting to see as well. We have seen plenty of professionals move from Intel to AMD and that trend could continue in the future as well if AMD continues to do good by the people.
It should be interesting to see how Intel responds to these upcoming CPUs as we have not yet seen mainstream Intel motherboards in the market which are forcing people to either spend extra on Z370 series motherboards or wait for mainstream motherboards to come out. On the AMD side of things, the upcoming chips will work just fine with the current AM4 motherboards, which is pretty cool. AMD will support the AM4 platform until 2020 which is something that Intel is not doing.
