AMD shares on the uptick after unveiling plans to release patches to fix chip flaws uncovered by CTS Labs

Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) was on the uptick after it unveiled plans to release patches to fix some of the flaws in its microprocessors that were uncovered by an Israeli security research company CTS Labs.

AMD, while acknowledging the vulnerabilities highlighted by CTS Labs, said that any attacker would need administrative access to the system.

In a blog post late Tuesday, AMD said: “Any attacker gaining unauthorized administrative access would have a wide range of attacks at their disposal well beyond the exploits identified in this research.”

The vulnerabilities are not expected to have performance impact, the chipmaker added.

In pre-market trade, AMD shares were up 0.99% at US$11.22.
