The successor to the iPhone X is tipped to launch in September 2018

The successor to the iPhone X, nicknamed either iPhone XI or iPhone X2 by tipsters, is purportedly scheduled to start production very soon.

According to DigiTimes, Apple will kickstart a trial production of the all-new smartphone to ensure a high yield rate of 3D sensor modules.

The Cupertino-based company wants to eliminate the bottlenecks in the production line that held-up the launch of the iPhone X last year.

Apple iPhone X didn’t arrive in stores until a short while after it was announced.

Rumours of poor yield rates for the crucial 3D sensors and other components surfaced online.

If these rumours were accurate, it makes sense Apple now wants to get a headstart so the iPhone X2 can land in September, shortly after the press conference.

Speaking to DigiTimes, sources suggest mass production of the next-generation iPhone range will begin early in the third financial quarter of 2018.

This is to allow enough time for Apple to build-up enough units before September.

Of course, there are all merely rumours for now.

As always, take the whispers around the next iPhone with a healthy pinch of salt.
