Giant update makes Death Road to Canada even greater

Death Road
A game that should never work. But really, really does.

Death Road to Canada is probably my pick for the best game to land in the App Store last year. It’s a weird-ass mashup that should never have worked: an amalgamation of randomly generated zombie survival RPG, action game, text-based interactive fiction game, and homage to the heyday of 8-bit gaming.

Its new FEMUR update makes a great game even better. It adds additional weapon types, five extra trader camps, new character the Barbarian, and a whole lot more. Plus, there’s even more to come.

More updates on the way

You can check out a comprehensive list of the game’s updates over on its App Store listing.

In addition, the game’s developers have announced that there are two more major updates coming in the months to follow. The biggest of these is set to arrive in July or August, marking the game’s second anniversary arriving on Steam. These updates are set to raise the game’s price by $1 each (currently it costs $11.99), after which there may be a sequel in the works.

It’s great to see indie developers continue improving on a game that’s already pretty darn great. While Death Road to Canada‘s $11.99 price tag certainly puts it at the higher end of the App Store gaming price bracket, I can assure you that it’s 100 worth it. I have racked up dozens of hours since getting my hands on the game, and totally don’t mind shelling out a bit more cash if it means supporting original titles like this.
