Dell's Precision Coffee Lake Mobile Workstations Offer NVIDIA Quadro And AMD Radeon Graphics Options

Dell has refreshed its mobile workstation family, which includes new members of the Precision product family. One of the most interesting additions is no doubt the Precision 5530, which features a 2-in-1 convertible form-factor.

The Precision 5530 2-in-1 is dominated by its 15.6-inch, next-generation InfinityEdge 4K Ultra HD display. The mobile workstation features a 360-degree hinge, allowing the display to completely fold flat against the body. The Precision 5530 is powered by 8th generation Intel Core processors, including the Kaby Lake-G Series (Core i5-8305G, i7-8705G, or i7-8706G) that feature integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega M graphics. The systems can be outfitted with up to 16GB of RAM and up to a 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD. When it comes to power, the integrated battery weighs in at 75 WHr.

For those that don't need the versatility of a convertible, there's the standard Precision 5530, which weighs in at a relatively lightweight 3.9 pounds. You can add more firepower when it comes to processors in the form of Coffee Lake-H processors, topping out at the hexa-core Core i9-8950HK. Memory maxes out at 32GB (DDR4-2666), while both PCIe NVMe SSD (up to 4TB) and 2.5-inch storage options (SSD and HDD) are offered. On the graphics front, base systems use Intel's integrated graphics, while those that require more graphics muscle can opt for an NVIDIA Quadro P1000 or P2000.

There's also the Precision 3530, which features a 15.6-inch display, but is available with 8th generation Core processors or burly Xeon processors. The systems can be configured with Quadro P600 graphics and come with a capacious 92 WHr battery.

At the top of the totem pole are the Precision 7730, which features a 17.3-inch display that comes standard with a lowly 1600x900 or display, or can be optioned with a gorgeous 3840x2160 (4K) panel. A mixture of 8th generation Intel Core or Xeon processors are offered, as are AMD Radeon Pro WX (up to WX 7100 with 8GB GDDR5) and NVIDIA Quadro (up to P5200 with 16GB GDDR5) discrete graphics. These machines can be configured with up to 128GB of RAM (DDR4-3200).

Pricing is not yet available on the Precision 5530 2-in-1, but the regular Precision 5530 starts at $1,450 and will be available on May 22nd. The Precision 3530 has a base price of $1,050, while the Precision 7730 will start at $1,510.
