LG G7 ThinQ: A Feature-Packed Performance Android Machine
However, what makes true smartphone success is practical usability and how some of those key features translate in terms of overall user experience. We've been living with the G7 ThinQ for the better part of a month now and we wanted to offer a sense of how it performs as a daily driver, as well as our standard analysis and benchmark setup. We'll also have the important benefit of multiple software updates that have been pushed to the phone, from its pre-production state to its full release status as of now. As such, our experiences may differ here versus some of the early reviews that have previously hit the web.

The LG G7 ThinQ's spec list reads like a current-generation flagship Android phone feature hit list. All of the latest bells and whistles are employed here -- Snapdragon 845, 6.1-inch QuadHD+ high bright display, wireless charging, IP68 water and dust resistance, a standard headphone jack, 802.11ac WiFi, USB-C and Bluetooth 5 LE; it's all in there. Also on board are dual rear 16MP cameras, one standard aspect and one wide angle, both with laser and phase detection autofocus. You also get a portrait mode capability with slick bokeh effects and a front-facing wide angle selfie cam. LG's excellent 32-bit Quad Hi-Fi DAC makes a return in the G7 ThinQ, along with a new Boombox Speaker feature. The former delivers a notable upgrade in audio fidelity through a quality set of headphones or buds, while the latter offers more volume output over standard smartphone speakers, but we'll return to that feature shortly.
And yes, the LG G7 ThinQ's display is notched, but we got over it eventually. Frankly, we're not sure what the big deal is with the notch at this point, as long as manufacturers give you the ability to eliminate it with a standard thin bezel view. In this case, though LG calls the G7 ThinQ's notch settings the "New Second Screen," LG actually gives you a couple of different looks to rid yourself of the notch if you so choose, but not always.
