Microsoft Now Has a Surface Store in Taiwan

Microsoft recently opened a new store in Taiwan. The company opened a flagship Surface store last week, where it will be selling all the latest Surface devices, including the Surface Book 2, Surface Laptop, and Surface Studio.

The company’s new store in Taiwan at the Xinyi business district joins its other 9 international stores, with 5 in Japan, one in Australia, China, and Singapore. Redmond is also building a flagship Microsoft Store in London’s Regent Street. Along with the Surface devices, Microsoft is also showcasing its Xbox consoles, as well as accessories like the Microsoft Arc. Touch Mouse, Surface Type Covers, and more.

Microsoft doesn’t have a good retail presence outside of the United States, unlike Apple. The company has a bunch of stores throughout the United States, but it is yet to open any stores in other countries like the United Kingdom, and countries in Europe. It’s interesting to see Microsoft opening a store in Taiwan out of all the countries, but the firm has been selling its Surface devices in the country for years and says sales of its device grew by 10-20%.

Your count of international stores is wrong. Here in Canada there are 7 Microsoft stores.

Microsoft doesn’t have a good retail presence outside of the United States ? They do not have one in the U.S. either. I would think here in San Francisco, they would have a flagship store like Apple has across the street from Union Square. Microsoft had a large store in the Metreon Center at the Moscone Center in SF back in 2001, but closed it. Why does Microsoft open large stores in other countries but has few in the U.S.

So is this “Surface” store any different inside than their other Microsoft stores? It isn’t just Surface they’re selling, so the article says….

Microsoft's consumer presence on the high street is still appalling, but for a very good reason. The attempts they've made so far have been terrible, and because the average consumer doesn't really care about Microsoft any more, barely anyone had any interest in these stores. Store's MS had opened were closed, or spent most of there time empty.

MS can't afford to ignore the consumer, but consumers are ignoring Microsoft!

When will Paul, MJF and Leo host a Windows Weekly at the Sydney Microsoft Store? It'd be the busiest the store's ever been.

I find it interesting that this is branded as a Surface Store. What are the differences (apart from focusing on Surface devices) between this and a 'regular' Microsoft Store?
