Microsoft to Update Windows Notepad App For the First Time

Microsoft Window’s Notepad App is one of the most commonly used text editors. We have a great news for the Notepad users that Microsoft is updating the Windows Notepad App for the first time. Microsoft has revealed that the new updated version of Windows Notepad App will have a surprising amount of new features. Window 10 users who use Notepad for development, logs, and text manipulation have highly requested for certain additions. That’s why Microsoft is working on the update of Windows Notepad App so that they can meet the needs of their users.

Let’s have a look at the new amazing features of Windows Notepad App.

  • Ability to zoom text

Notepad users will now be able to zoom in and out of the text by holding the Ctrl key and using the mouse wheel.

  • Addition of extended line ending support

Unix/Linux line endings (LF) and Macintosh line endings (CR) are not supported in Windows Notepad App in the recent version. So, one of the new features that Microsoft is adding in the update will be an extended line ending support so that LF’s and CR’s can be supported.

  • Default Status Bar

The status bar will be enabled by default in Notepad in this new update. Whenever word-wrap option will be enabled, Status Bar will have the ability to display line and column numbers.

  • Support to delete the previous word

Microsoft will also add in Ctrl+backspace support to delete a previous word in Notepad. Addition of this support will improve the performance for large files too.

  • Search on Bing 

By simply right-clicking on the Notepad interface users will be able to get a new option to search for words in Bing.

Microsoft is giving the finishing touches to its next major Windows 10 update. New Notepad features are expected to debut later this year in an update codenamed as “Redstone 5“.
