Liquid screen protector? Sounds too good to be true? We’ve used several different screen protectors over the last few months and have decided that we can’t replace a traditional screen protector with a liquid one. With that being said, there are a couple of upsides to liquid screen protectors.

At Mobile Reviews Eh!, we do reviews based on actual usage. We do tests and use the products for days and maybe weeks. For this Whoosh Diamond Defense Liquid Screen Protector Review, we did a couple of scratch and oleophobic tests. We also did a longer in depth review about the liquid screen protector in general with CrystalTech Nano 2.0 and Spigen GLAStR Nano Liquid.

From our understanding, every liquid screen protector is generally the same. Itʼs made from Silicone Dioxide or SiO2. Itʼs liquid glass. Youʼre basically adding a thin layer of glass to your existing glass.

Installation of the Whoosh Diamond Defense is quite simple. First you clean your device by rubbing it down with an alcohol wipe. Then you apply the screen protector by using the wet wipe found in the package called Nano liquid. Once youʼve covered your device with the fluid from the wet wipe, you wait a few minutes for it to dry and then buff your screen with the included microfibre cloth. You can do this as many times as you want. The wet wipe installation is why they say it fits ALL smart phones.

According to Whoosh, their product doesnʼt result in bubbles either. This might have been a big deal a few years ago but the adhesives on modern screen protectors are quite good at being bubble free.

NOTE: Liquid screen protectors will take between 24-48 hours to fully cure.

Liquid Screen Protector Review-- Liquid Screen Protector wont fill cracks or scratches

We did several tests where we try to see if a liquid screen protector would lessen the cracks in an iPhone X incurred. We honestly couldnʼt see a noticeable difference after the screen protector was applied. At this part of the test, we were thinking Whoosh could have given us an actual wet wipe and we wouldnʼt know any difference.

Our tests also didn’t show any remarkable improvements on the scratches our Apple Watch Series 3.

One of the selling features of the Whoosh Diamond Defense is itʼs claim that it provides superior scratch resistance. Logically, if the wet wipe did come with liquid glass, you are technically adding another layer of glass to the device which would be extra scratch protection.

But hereʼs the downside. Whoosh Diamond Defense basically fuses with the existing glass. You canʼt take it off. So if you manage to scratch that thin layer of glass, itʼs going to look like youʼve permanently damaged your smartphoneʼs screen.

This is probably why Whoosh! has a disclaimer on the back that claims it doesnʼt make your screen 100% scratch proof.

Whoosh also placed a sticker on our box saying that the Whoosh Diamond Defense makes screens up to 15x stronger. We were unable to test that claim as we didnʼt have the foresight to do what we did to the Crystal Tech Nano 2.0 liquid screen protector.

The last thing we will say is that Whoosh! doesnʼt market the supposedly oleophobic properties of their liquid screen protector which is odd since Spigen and CrystalTech does. Good on them because we’re not sure if liquid screen protectors actually add back the oleophobic coating to any smart phone.
