On the official iTunes App Store page for Spentory its developer asks the question, "Do you think Complexity of your financial condition can be managed from a mobile phone?"

To answer that question, I’m not sure Spentory is the absolute best option for managing one’s finances, but considering the low price, it’s not a bad choice, either.

This is a simplistic and minimal app. Essentially, Spentory serves as a calculator specialized with the ability to organize user's expenses. When users start up the app, they are met with a calculator. They can input their expenses from this screen and categorize each kind of expense. For example, they can choose from icons such as a shopping cart, gift box, plate, credit card, airplane and more. Presumably, each icon represents a different expense – shopping cart for shopping expenses, the plate for meal expenses and so forth.

One of my qualms with Spentory has to do with just how minimal it is. Admittedly, the developer's goal was to create a simplistic tool for managing finances, but the icon system is indicative of just how much its developer favors simplicity in its design. There's no legend for the icons, so at the best users must assign their own meaning to each.

In addition to the icon system, the other feature of Spentory lets users convert their expenses between different currencies. This may prove kind of useful for users who might need that kind of functionally. Also, users can e-mail their inputted data. The app will create an e-mail featuring the dates, amounts and currency of each expense.

I understand the idea is to keep things simple, but Spentory's minimalist approach might actually be a problem for some users looking for more depth. For those who are looking for something very simple and easy to use, though, the app might get the job done.
