Retro looks and modern features make the GIZMON potentially one of the best cases we've seen

We've seen a few stabs over the years at making the iPhone look and feel more like a "real" camera, from Leica-esque stickers to the Red Pop, which added a hardware shutter button by plugging into the dock connector.

But in terms of both retro-tastic-ality, and plain utility, the GIZMON iCA case is hard to beat.

The case has everything. Two polycarbonate sections slide over the ends of the iPhone 4/4S and lock together. The rangefinder styling is pretty clear to see, but hides a proper shutter release button (which works by pressing on the volume button), an optical viewfinder (even my Panasonic GF1 doesn't have this!), a mount over the iPhone's lens for adding accessory lenses, and a faux-lens in the center, which contains a mirror for easier self portraits.

There's also a Glif-like tripod mount that comes in the pack, a cold-shoe accessory holder, and holes for cables, ports and buttons.

And unlike a real film camera (or even digicam), this one has access to all the photo apps in the App Store.

The GIZMON is starting to find its way into stores, and has already shown up at the Four Corner Store in black, brown and white, for $65. If I had an iPhone, I'd totally buy one.
