Apple’s first TV ad for the new iPad focuses on Retina display (with video)

Apple’s first TV ad for the new iPad (Early 2012) will soon begin airing on U.S. broadcast and cable networks.

The first iPad ad focuses solely on the product’s high-resolution Retina display.

When a screen becomes this good, colors are more vibrant, words are pin-sharp, everything is more brilliant.

Because when a screen becomes this good, it’s simply you and the things you care about.

The stunning Retina display. On the new iPad.

The ad closes on a black Apple logo with black text on a white that simply says “iPad.”

MacDailyNews Take: Yet another excellent example for TV ad copy writers the world over: KISS.

So, what do you think?

  1. Simple is always best. By focusing on one thing (display) they give room to other specific commercials…next will be the 4G or iPhoto/apps in general.

However, I have come to think that no matter what the advertising angle, it may not matter too much at this point. the iPad 3 is already selling like crazy (pre-orders) so a less-than-perfect commercial will still be (oh God I don’t believe I am about to to say this)…’good enough’.

  2. Awwww, that gets me all tingly. I can’t wait to get mine! Well, unfortunately, I guess I do have to wait even though the darned thing is less than 3 hours from my house!

        1. Oh, and I got my Smart Cover Saturday and have been using it…well, no, I actually haven’t been using it much. Scrolling is laggy to the point of being non-functional.

My tracking points to UPS, so that’s who’s flying mine over I assume. Can’t wait to get it.

  3. Mine is waiting delivery, Friday. It’s barely a forty minute drive from me, but I’m stuck with waiting. This is ridiculous! I’m a full-grown man, and I’m as excited about this as getting a new car.
It seems few things in life are as fulfilling as receiving a new Apple product. They almost never disappoint, but most often just thrill and amaze.

  4. I saw this during the event last week, and if no one else is going to say it, I have to say I’m not crazy about the voice. Of all the people who could have provided the voiceover, I find this one to be kind of annoying.

    1. I felt the same way. I don’t like the choice at all. It may seem easy to do something a like a voiceover in an ad, but its not. Just take a look at past Apple ads and at the good choices that were made as to the voiceover. Listen for example to Richard Dreyfuss’s voice in the “Crazy Ones” ad. Then listen to the version that was done with Steve Jobs narrating the ad. While its meaningful to hear Steve Jobs version because you know that ad really seems to embody his ideals, the Dreyfuss version that was used sounds so much better. A real professional makes all the difference and good actors often do great voiceovers.

  5. Nashville since noon yesterday. So near, yet so far.

Hey, FedEx, early delivery won’t break my heart and it’ll clear up some storage space for you. How about it? I won’t tell anyone, I promise.

  6. Photo Journalist, writers, content post production workers, painters, musicians, medical staff, gamers, readers, hd movie lovers and everyone else is going to love this one way beyond the first Mac. This is definitely Steve Job’s legacy!
