Apple tablet users in North America and the UK can now access Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents thanks to CloudOn’s new Microsoft Office App.

The CloudOn 2.0 is a free, cloud-based service.

Though the company has its development center in Israel, the Hebrew version of the App is still not fully operational.

“We took the most popular program, Office, and connected it with a Dropbox. With no marketing, and in under three months, we had almost one million downloads of the application,” CloudOn CEO Milind Gadekar told Israeli daily Globes.

Gadekar co-founded the company with Israelis Shuki Binyamin (CTO) and Meir Morgenstern (VP engineering) in 2009. According to Globes, the company has raised $10 million, and is currently in the midst of a new financing round.

CloudOn is also reportedly working on a version of the new App for Android-based tablets.
