Sprint will start taking pre-orders for the HTC EVO 4G LTE on May 7.

"On May 7, call dibs on an HTC EVO 4G LTE. Only online, you can pre-order your EVO 4G LTE and we'll do our best to get it to you before others get a glimpse," Sprint said in a note on its website.

Customers can sign up to be notified via email when the pre-order link is live.

Sprint unveiled the EVO 4G LTE earlier this month, its sixth EVO device. It's technically part of HTC's new One line, but Sprint surprised onlookers by opting not to go with the "One" moniker. For more on that, see .

The device boasts a 4.7-inch, 1280-by-720-pixel super LCD, but it's also quite thin and light at 5.3 by 2.7 by 0.35 inches (HWD) and 4.7 ounces. The phone is powered by a 1.5-GHz, dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.

The EVO 4G LTE also includes an 8-megapixel camera with ImageSense, which PCMag found to be "ridiculously fast." There's also the requisite 1.3-megapixel, front-facing camera for self portraits and video chat.

Also included is a technology known as HD Voice, which promises much clearer voice phone calls. For more, see .
