Nuance Powers New Voice Feature for Coupons.com Grocery iQ Mobile App for iPhone and iPad

Popular App Now Features Dragon Voice Recognition to Let Users Speak their Shopping List

BURLINGTON, Mass.--()--Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) today announced that Coupons.com Incorporated’s Grocery iQ app now features Dragon voice recognition powered by Nuance, with the introduction of Version 2.6 for iOS. Grocery iQ is the latest iPhone and iPad app to integrate Nuance’s Dragon voice technology though the NDEV Mobile developer program.

Grocery iQ makes it easy to create, manage and share shopping lists as well as find and use coupons. Free to download, the popular app lets users add items to their shopping lists by simply speaking what they want. By integrating Dragon voice recognition into the iOS version of Grocery iQ, users can even dictate multiple items in a continuous list for automatic recognition and addition to their list. Users can also add items by typing or scanning barcodes on product packaging using the camera on their mobile device.

“Grocery iQ is consistently recognized as one of the top lifestyle apps because it automates a task we all do: make a list before shopping,” said Steven Boal, CEO of Coupons.com Incorporated. “With voice recognition powered by Dragon now in the iOS version of Grocery iQ, users can add items to their lists by typing, scanning and now, speaking.”

“Grocery iQ makes shopping easy, and when coupled with the power of Dragon, that experience becomes faster, and even fun,” said Matt Revis, vice president and general manager, handset business, Nuance Mobile. “The NDEV Mobile developer program continues to drive app innovation across a broad range of industries, and we’re pleased Grocery iQ has selected Dragon technology to further enhance the user experience on the iOS platform.”

The new Grocery iQ 2.6 is now available in the Apple App Store.

Nuance’s Dragon Mobile SDK is available as part of the NDEV Mobile developer program that lets developers rapidly bring voice-enabled apps to market, even if they have never previously implemented speech technology. The Dragon Mobile SDK powers the voice recognition and speech-to-text capabilities of some of the most popular apps on the market, including Price Check by Amazon, Kraft Foods’ iFood Assistant, Ask for iPhone, Merriam-Webster, Dictionary.com, OnStar RemoteLink, SayHi Translate, Snapguide and many others.

Nuance’s mobile voice technology, featured as part of the Dragon Mobile SDK and renowned Dragon Mobile Apps family, brings the power of Dragon Naturally Speaking to a variety of applications and services – supporting a broad range of languages. Nuance’s portfolio of voice and touch solutions are trusted by the world’s leading handset, TV and automotive manufacturers and mobile operators, and are found in billions of phones and millions of automobiles and consumer electronic devices – making them among the most persuasive mobile solutions on the market today.
