Two Ways To Delete Videos Directly From Your iPhone [iOS Tips]

Chances are you’re going to want to get rid of some videos on your iPhone or iPad at some point when you’re not near your trusty Mac at home. Or your laptop. In fact, you might even want to skip the computer and iTunes altogether, and just delete them from your iOS device directly because finding the white connection cord is just too much of a hassle. Today’s tip gives you two ways to do this.

One way to delete videos from your iOS device is to open up the Videos app. Once there, find the video you want to delete from the list and swipe to the left, just like you do to delete or archive email in Mail app. A red Delete button will appear to the right of the video icon. Tapping it will delete the video from your iPhone. The iPad app for Videos displays them in a grid like the iOS home page icon view. To delete videos from the iPad, simply tap and hold until the little X image appears to the upper left of all your videos. Tap it and confirm the deletion in the resulting Dialogue badge.

A second, more informed way to delete videos from your iPhone is to hop into the Settings app. Once there, tap on the General tab, then the Usage tab. Wait for your iPhone to figure out the storage info while the spinning wheel icon spins. Depending on the amount of video you have on your device, you’ll see the app near the top of the list, or you may have to tap on the Show all Apps button at the bottom of that first list of apps.

Either way, tap on the Video icon, and you’ll see the videos and TV Shows you have on your device along with the size of each video, giving valuable information as to which video to delete, if you need more storage. To delete, tap the Edit button in the upper right, then the little circle-minus button next to the video you’d like to delete. This will trigger the red Delete button as above. Tap it to fully erase that video from your iPhone. Tap Done when finished. This process works similarly on the iPad, just with a bit more screen space.
