Legacy Mobile is an enterprise-level solution that enables intelligent legacy connectivity from any Apple iPad. It is a new industrial strength application that extends the capabilities of the leading tablet for business.
Legacy Mobile provides access to any legacy IBM mainframe application that supports a 3270 or 5250 user interface and is a fully-featured emulation solution for the iPad. It enables access to any online application available via TN3270 or TN5250. The product comes in two versions, each supporting its respective terminal type.
How is Legacy MobileTM different from other terminal emulators?
Unlike most 3270 and 5250 terminal emulators, Legacy Mobile is written entirely in Objective-C, which means that it can be run anywhere that iOS can be installed. Legacy Mobile is also intelligent. It understands 3270 and 5250 data flows inherently, so there is no wasted performance through continuous checking for replies from the server. By fully understanding server communication, Legacy Mobile knows what data to expect.
Legacy Mobile also understands the data itself. It is able to identify what makes up the contents of a 3270 or 5250 screen. It can recognize start and end of fields and what data type they contain. This allows your iPad application to query and make decisions based on the contents of an actual z-Series or i-Series application screen in the most efficient manner possible. Legacy Mobile can also handle multiple 3270 and 5250 sessions in your completed iPad application.
Release 2.0 of Legacy Mobile, to be available in Q3 2012, will support user macros and extend the functionality of this initial version to support custom end user interfaces.
Future plans are to release Legacy Mobile SDK, which will enable tablet application developers to easily add legacy programmatic integration to their iPad application offerings, and to release a version which will support other mobile device OS’s such as Android by year end.

Legacy Mobile for iPad is available today from the Apple Store at a single user price of $25.99. This one-time fee includes two years of full maintenance, complete technical support and version upgrades at no additional charge. Legacy Mobile is also available under the Apple Volume Purchase Program and can be incorporated into a Custom B2B application. Discounts are available for educational users. All components of version 1.0 are available immediately.

Legacy Mobile for iPad is also available now as an OEM product for those application developers and companies wishing to include legacy 3270 and 5250 connectivity as a part of their iPad mobile application deployment capabilities.
