A biopic based on the life of Steve Jobs will shoot portions of the film at the home where Jobs grew up and the garage where he co-founded Apple, the people behind the movie announced.

The film is set to cover Jobs’ “30 most defining years,” according to a press release. The movie covers his years as a youth all the way through his second stint with Apple.

The movie, “jOBS,” which is due out in late fall, is set to begin principle photography next month. Ashton Kutcher has been cast to play the lead role.

Jobs co-founded Apple in his parents’ garage, where the original Apple computer was built by him and co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Last week news also broke the Wozniak had been hired to work as a “tutor” on another Jobs biopic, which is being put out by Sony Pictures. “The Woz” will help with technical aspects of the computers as well as details of Jobs himself, according to a report by Reuters.

That as-yet unnamed movie project is based on the Jobs biography released last year by Walter Isaacson. Academy Award-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, who also adapted “The Social Network” and “Moneyball,” was hired to work on the film.

Sorkin said he will turn his full attention to the film in late June, and he also said it will not be a straight biopic. The film will focus on “an element of tension or an obstacle in Job’s life on which to hang,” according to Reuters, similar to Sorkin’s work on “The Social Network.”

“Drama is tension versus obstacle. Someone wants something, something is standing in their way of getting it. They want the money, they want the girl, they want to get to Philadelphia — doesn’t matter. ... And I need to find that event and I will. I just don’t know what it is,” Sorkin said.”
