Apple Unveils WWDC 2012 Schedule, App

Apple posted its sessions schedule for the 2012 Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, along with an app for attendees hoping to keep track of their schedule for the week. That app may be especially handy this year since Apple is breaking from its traditional schedule and moving some key events to different times.

The keynote presentation this year will be at 10AM on Monday, June 11 with Platforms Kickoff starting a 2PM. The Apple Design Awards event will be on Monday as well, starting at 3:45PM. The ADA event has historically happened on Tuesday evening.

The Developer Tools Kickoff this year will be at 9AM Tuesday morning, June 12. Stump the Experts is still on Tuesday evening, and will run from 7PM until 8:30PM.

Many sessions at the conference are still tagged as “to be announced,” which hints at some surprise announcements from Apple.

WWDC is Apple’s annual event to give iOS and OS X developers details on the company’s roadmap, and also offers developers the opportunity to work directly with Apple engineers for a few days. The event will include over 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers, and 100 hands-on labs where developers can get help with their own code from Apple.

Tickets for the conference went on sale early in the morning on April 25 and sold out within two hours.

The WWDC 2012 app, which is useful only for registered attendees, lets users check out the conference schedule, see where events and sessions will be held, tracks the sessions you are attending, and includes an option for providing session and lab feedback. The app is free and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.

WWDC 2012 runs from June 11 through June 15 at the Moscone West convention center in San Francisco.
