Despite Its Damaged Rep, iFitness Is Back For Another Attempt

June 10, 2012
After a spectacular pair of failed App Store lifts (and a rep that may never again see good form), it appears that the controversial iFitness app has finally returned. For those who don't remember, iFitness was one of the iPhone's highest-rated exercise apps back in the day, before its developer was booted from the App Store for faking thousands of reviews. The code for iFitness was then supposedly sold to another developer who changed its name to Full Fitness and relaunched it to App Store acclaim. Unfortunately, a bit of rudimentary investigation revealed that the folks behind the app were almost certainly the same scamming group that got banned by Apple several months earlier. We reported as much, and -- two weeks later -- Full Fitness was off the market. However, for all you concerned bodybuilding buffs out there, this could be a case of third time's the charm. Unlike the previous two releases, this iFitness is published by Eltima, a legitimate, longtime software vendor based out of Bellevue, Washington. While the icons, menus, and content look similar to the designs employed by the previous iFitness apps (particularly in the iPhone version), this one's definitely not an overt rewrite. It may not even be the same underlying build. Still, because of the unpleasant and unstable history attached to the iFitness name, it's probably a good idea to hold off purchasing your copy until Eltima responds to our inquiries. If you're willing to risk it, though, iFitness is on sale for just $0.99 in the App Store. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
