MacBook Pro with Retina Display: Over priced and hard to find – Part 1

Ordering the new MacBook online takes three to four weeks before shipping and the other way is to waive off your house luxuries

The new MacBook Pro 2012 is overpriced, starting at $2199 and comes in only two denominations. Though it has the eye-candied Retina Display but still its price goes overboard in many respects. But you have to give it to Apple for creating hype that lures even those who are least bit interested in the new notebook can be found camped at the nearest Apple Store.

Customer rush has become synonymous to new releases by Apple and MacBook Pro is no exception to it. The super-thin professional, desktop-replacement laptop is hard to get a handle on. Even those who just want to see what the new MacBook is all about are searching for the new notebook.

MacBook is 0.71 inches thin, though not the thinnest of the laptops in the market or even the lightest one. However, it was the presentation that made all the difference. The way its chassis depth was demonstrated with a finger was persuasive enough to force everyone to take to the Apple stores.

The new MacBook, due to the high demand, is short in the market, much less at 3^rd party stores. Many stores say that they haven’t even received the first batch of the shipment. Others ran out of the device right after it was officially launched at the WWDC.

Following Apple’s announcement we have checked back into the ODM (original device manufacturer) supply chain, and found that yield issues pushed the start of mass production into late May,” wrote NPD DisplaySearch analysts Richard Shim and Jeff Lin in a post on the company’s blog today.
