Apple Re-releases Thunderbolt Ethernet Adapter Update

Thunderbolt, go!Apple released Thunderbolt Software Update 1.2 last week when it rolled out new MacBook Pro models, but quickly pulled the update when users began saying their laptops refused to boot after installing the new software. A new version of the update, Thunderbolt Software Update 1.2.1, hit the Web Tuesday morning that presumably doesn’t leave users with Macs that won’t boot.

The update adds support for the new Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet adapter. The adapter costs US$29, and gives MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with Retina Display owners an easy way to connect to Ethernet-based networks.

Apple’s scant notes only say that the 1.2.1 update adds support for the Thunderbolt adapter without making any mention of the stability issues some users experienced after installing the earlier version of the update.

Thunderbolt Software Update 1.2.1 is available through the Software Update application on compatible Macs, and as a downloadable installer via the Apple Support website.
