Tumblr has released version 3.0 of its app for iPhone, bringing it more in line with the excellent Android update we saw a couple of months ago. The interface has been reshuffled with gestures, larger icons, and a new photo viewer, and the app is apparently a lot faster. Meanwhile, the long list of new features includes Spotify integration, offline functionality, tag searching, high-res images, and more.

It definitely looks to be an all-around improvement to the iPhone blogging experience, but there's one glaring omission — Tumblr inexplicably still doesn't have an iPad app. The new interface really doesn't look or feel great blown up to fit the larger screen, and we'd have thought the improved browsing features would have been the perfect opportunity to go all-out on a tablet edition. For now, a drastically improved phone experience will have to do.
