Verizon Rolls Out Ice Cream Sandwich to Droid Razr, Razr Maxx

Verizon Wireless today confirmed that all smartphones in the Droid Razr family will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, starting today.

Verizon Wireless today confirmed that all smartphones in the Droid Razr family will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, starting today.

The Droid Razr and Razr Maxx will also be the first two 4G LTE smartphones on Verizon Wireless to be global ready. That means those devices will be able to have voice and data service in more than 220 countries, when subscribed to an international plan.

Motorola for the Droid Razr and Razr Maxx in late May. In a series of videos, the phone maker showed off various Android 4.0 features, like the upgraded lock screen, a new battery icon, new features for the camera, and social network integration.

In its announcement today, Motorola talked up the Face Unlock feature on ICS, as well as a new video-calling icon, voice input upgrades, and the direct-access lock screen.

The Motorola Xoom earlier this month. The Motorola Atrix 4G, Atrix 2, Droid 4, Droid Bionic, and Photon 4G are also on tap to get the upgrade at some point.
