In this strategy title, players must manage the operations of an entire fleet of ships during intense firefights with wave after wave of advancing enemy ships. To accomplish this, the player uses simple gesture controls to give different commands to the fleets many ships. Tracing a line from a capitol ship will launch its fighter wings which will follow the traces line in defensive patrols, or tapping on the screen will unleash devastating artillery salvos. In later levels, players will also have to manage resources as they send out mining expeditions to secure the minerals needed to support the fleet in its journey.
Many strategy games suffer from complex controls and overwrought battle systems. Strikefleet Omega couldn't be farther in the other direction. Simple, intuitive controls make the commands easy to learn and execute while the levels remain challenging and varied. Players also gain experience and are awarded credits based on their performance. As they level up and amass more credits, they can add new ships and abilities to their fleet through upgrades. This keeps the game fresh level after level. The visuals are very well done, making it easy to track the action even on small iPhone and iPod screens. This, combined with the solid gameplay make this a title strategy lovers shouldn't miss. And for free, who wouldn't want to check it out. There is tons of fun to be had with Strikefleet Omega, and players don't even have to spend a penny. It's a no-brainer.
