Have A Howling Good Time With Updated Ski Safari

July 4, 2012
While it may be the height of summer here in the United States, the endless runner Ski Safari has just gotten a lot cooler with its first major update. The one-time AppAdvice Game of the Week winner has been updated to version 1.1 with a slate of new features sure to keep fans of the game engrossed in helping Sven ski faster than the massive avalanche that is chasing him. Probably most exciting new feature is the addition of a new shop to actually use those collected gold coins for something. Along with costumes for Sven, the app has taken a page from Jetpack Joyride and now features a host of gadgets and power ups to purchase. The updated game has also added a new animal and vehicle to ride. Players can now hop a ride with a wolf and use a rocket to blast through the slopes while gaining new ranks and achievements. A new slope in the game, Howling Hills, features a interesting hazard. Make sure to not fall into the pools of water that will freeze you. Finally, Ski Safari now supports the new iPad’s Retina display with crisp new graphics to see each individual snowflake. The game was originally released in late April and quickly climbed up the App Store charts. In our original review, we said the app was easy to learn but more difficult to master. Ski Safari is a universal app for both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. It can be purchased in the App Store for $0.99. Like other endless runners, I’m glad to see developer Defiant Development has added new challenges and gizmos to help keep the fun game fresh.
