Motorola Atrix HD Coming to AT&T July 15

Motorola today announced that AT&T will start selling its Atrix HD smartphone on July 15.

The Atrix HD will be available for $99.99 with a two-year contract in white or titanium.

The device boasts a 4.5-inch HD display with ColorBoost, which Motorola said includes the "highest resolution smartphone display on the market." The company did not elaborate, but said the Atrix HD would have a 720-by-1,280 display.

The smartphone includes an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording at 30 frames per second, as well as a front-facing 720p HD camera.

The Atrix HD will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and will come pre-loaded with Motorola's Circle Widget, which will connect users directly to information about their AT&T account details, as well as things like the time, notifications, weather and battery meter.

The Atrix HD will connect to AT&T's 4G LTE network where available. AT&T yesterday in an additional six locations, bringing its total span to 47 U.S. markets. For more, see PCMag's test of the .

The Atrix HD will also include SmartActions, an app that will change the phone's setting depending on how it's being used. If you put the phone in the vehicle navigation dock and set it to Drive Smart, for example, the Atrix HD will automatically switch to vehicle mode and read aloud any received messages. For a limited time, those who buy an Atrix HD will get a free vehicle dock.

Battery Extender, meanwhile, will also prolong battery life by disabling certain power-hungry features.

Motorola said the Atrix HD measures in a 8.4 millimeters and includes "a high-tech, invisible nano-coating that acts as a splash guard" for the case and electrical circuit boards.

For business users, Motorola promised security features like password protection and inactivity timeouts, VPN, government-grade data encryption on the device and SD card, and the remote phone/SD card wipes.
