River Belle looks at Apple’s decision to opt for HTML5 and the ramifications it’s had on mobile gaming

TA' XBIEX, Malta--()--Back in 2010 Apple made the decision to no longer make use of Adobe Flash in its array of mobile products. Steve Jobs, before his passing, wrote an elaborate letter on the official Apple website citing the various reasons as to his company’s key decision at the time. A key relationship was severed and words, some unpleasant were exchanged between the two companies.

At the time of the announcement, River Belle Online Casino had already been investing its resources in producing an HTML version of their casino software for the mobile phone platform, as the company saw this as inevitable. River Belle has, since releasing its online casino as a smartphone version, been reliant on Adobe Flash and smartly integrated Adobe Air into its software make up in order to ensure the crux of its mobile users – Android users – would be able to easily download their range of casino games.

But the company also knew that Apple iPhone users – making up for 15% of their customer base had to be catered to and worked fast to produce a mobile version of the casino software that was and is HTML5 compliant. Since then, the company has seen its customer base rise up to 20%.

River Belle has admitted that developing HTML5 based mobile casino software presented its own set of challenges, but the online casino, renowned for being an industry leader whose focus has always been that of customer satisfaction, claimed that seeing its Apple users increase by 5% in the last year, has made it all worth the effort. Android users still account for the majority of the casino’s mobile users, and that number too continues to rise.
