MyCalendar Mobile is a very simple app. It's the iOS version of the popular Facebook app that reminds users of their friends' birthday. That's the sole purpose behind MyCalendar Mobile but for those who have plenty of birthdays to keep track of, it could prove quite useful.

The app provides a few different ways to import birthdays. It's possible to add them manually but the easiest method is either through using Facebook. It's possible to get friends to add themselves through a link you send them, but I found this a little awkward and not as streamlined as using Facebook.

Once collated, the calendar page is filled with birthdays. It's immediately obvious what days include someone's birthday with an icon highlighting just how many people are celebrating on one day. Tap the relevant date and the name of the person, a picture if available and the means in which to contact them, is displayed. Tap their name and it's easy to either message them on Facebook or text them to wish them happy birthday. There's no email or Twitter support though, unfortunately.

Further functionality comes from the reminder feature which informs users ahead of time when it's a friend's birthday. It's possible to adjust how far ahead of time, for instance, if a present needs to be arranged, as well as an exact time of day to implement such reminders. It's all pretty simple but it suits the nature of the app.

MyCalendar Mobile isn't the most feature rich of apps by a long shot. It's not even possible to transfer dates between the iOS Calendar app. However, for those users with plenty of birthdays to remember, it could save them some awkwardness and embarrassment when they forget an occasion, which is probably worth the $0.99 asking price in itself.
